PostSubject: LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeMon Dec 06, 2010 3:58 am

Line jumping (cutting) in front of others should not be tolerated and its getting out of hand.

Line jumpers should go in the END of the line or better yet, don't let them in the screening!!!

Often one person is in line and he/she lets all his/her buddies who come in very late to line jump (cut) in front of others who have been standing in line for an hour or more. That's wrong. These people do not care. They know nothing will be done so they keep doing it over and over again.

There should be a numbering process so these people stop doing this all the time. Perhaps, those at Cyclone Admin can hand write the numerical number (i.e. first person is number 1, second person is number 2, etc.) on the actual pass. Of course using a special colored ink pen (for each screening) and then initial it. Something needs to be done, please!

PostSubject: Same People Who Frequently Line Jumps   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeWed Mar 02, 2011 2:01 pm

In tonight's screening of Beastly, there was only one to two people who allowed line jumping.

The first one, is a regular attendee of screening (she's in early 30's, heavy set, wearing tight cloths most of the time, shoulder length black hair that's curly in pony tail.) She let about 4-5 people line jumped! Most of the regulars--for sure--knows who this violator is!!!

PostSubject: Line Jumpers Nearly Caused A Fight Tonight   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeFri Mar 11, 2011 2:51 pm

Tonight's screening of Battle for LA was a nightmare for the following reasons:

1) Two fights was going to occur because of line jumpers. There was this woman (early 20s, glasses, dirty blond hair, about 5'5, 120 pounds)l who came with her parents and she called ALL her friends about 5-7 of them to cut in line. This person had ZERO respect for all the people in line that were there for nearly 3 hours. She was so defensive that when a seasoned Cyclone member talked with her that there were people that were standing in line for nearly 3 hours, she said "I DON'T CARE" and she kept on calling ALL her buddies who just arrived to cut. When another seasoned Cyclone member tried to interject, she tried to hit him! This thug should have been immediately kick out of line along with all her gang!

2) Several complaints were filed with the theater manager.

3) The line inside quadripled because of people cutting.

4) A few of the people standing in line who were very upset due to line jumpers threatened to call the Fire Marshall.

5) The theater manager called security when the girl above was causing a scene.

Allen/John...(Cyclone Admin) please STRONGLY consider making serious changes of problematic line jumpers. The manager of the theater was very upset of the problems these line jumpers were causing that he wants to stop future screenings in ALL their facilities.

PostSubject: Such incidents will eventually lead to someone getting hurt, injured or even killed.   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeSat Mar 12, 2011 8:05 am

There are really no rules for people to follow. Without rules to follow, those who can abuse the system WILL do it. It was evident during the Battle LA screening. Majority of the line jumpers are NEW and they seriously did not give a damn!

Cyclone admin should send out a broadcast email to all its members to remind them to be courteous to one another and STOP LINE JUMPING!!!

Changes to the line system needs to be reviewed. Why not use the numbering system? Better yet, let the people inside the theater sooner. That way they will also buy popcorn, drinks, snacks and its a win-win for the theater and Cyclone members. This will curved line jumpers for sure!!!

Since a manager of theater is very upset with all the line jumpers (because security had to be called in too and threat of Fire Marshall shutting down the entire screening event) and threatening to stop usage of the movie facilities, it's up to Cyclone admin to handle this serious issue and put a stop to it before movie theaters no longer want to host screenings.

The NEW members who were definitely wanting to cause a fight is very serious. Such incidents will eventually lead to someone getting hurt, injured or even killed.

PostSubject: Re: LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeTue Mar 15, 2011 1:28 am

I have been going to these preview screenings for over 10 years. I can
say without hesitation that screenings today are getting worse and
worse. The are run by people who are either incompetent, inept, and/or
sadistic. (I'm talking little Rick and company, not Johnathan). They
delight in having people wait for HOURS and HOURS in the cold, or the
rain, or 100 degree heat just to get a ticket. This is sick and wrong.
Naturally people need to move their car, get food, go to the bathroom,
or escape the brutal elements for a few minutes and this causes all
sorts of problems.

It didn't used to be like this. In the past
they would distribute actual theater tickets (not GoFo Bo passes) the
day before the screening. They then switched to noon on the day of show,
then to 5:00pm. Now it is whenever some demagogue decides he or she
feels like passing out the actual tickets. This is ridiculous,
inefficient, and inhumane. Most people in line are not waiting for
hours to get a good seat, they are waiting to get a ticket. I would
respectfully request the theaters be allow distribute the tickets at
noon day of show. I can guarantee that people will NOT be lining up at
7:00am waiting for the box-office to open. People will come through out
the day, pick up tickets then go about there business. This system
worked well in the past and will again.

PostSubject: Line Jumpers Will Be The Ones To End Future Screenings   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeWed Mar 16, 2011 3:25 am

Hopefully, those line jumpers will realize that what they are doing will eventually affect future screenings negatively and that screenings will no longer be offered if the line jumping continues. There is a move by several to lobby theater managers to tighten up on line jumpers, in others words, those who let people cut will be kick out of the line along with their cutting gang. There is also a petition to movie theater managers to call authorities such as the Fire Marshall to shut down screenings if the line gets too long due to line cutting.

Get a hobby, one that doesn't entail standing in line. If you don't like the screenings, then please don't bother coming anymore. That simple enough? The Fire Marshall is not going to respond to your call for help while standing in line at a movie theater. You ranting on here is not productive. Nobody likes a photo taking snitch either.

The Fire Marshal's Office enforces various state and local codes, laws and prevention statutes. Fire marshal staff CAN inspect buildings (i.e. Movie theater entrance/exit) and conducts on site inspections. They inspect the county's existing businesses based upon the potential issue, danger and loss of property. They DO have the authority to shut down what they perceive to be a potential issue (i.e. blockage of entrance to a movie theater).

No one here is saying they don't like the screenings. What most are saying and have concerns about is the out-of-control LINE JUMPING/CUTTING IN LINE!!! Some people mixes apples and oranges and they sound uneducated!
What some people are saying here is they want solutions to an ongoing issue that has become out-of-control. Now, if you don't like people to come up with solutions and you believe that line jumping/cutting in line is civil, then you are part of the problem and not part of the solution!!!

The line for Lincoln Lawyer was very organized last night.

Thanks to ALL those that emailed the theater because it did make a difference. The theater also slashed the line inside and prevented line cutting.

The tickets were handed out to those people that are ACTUALLY in line. If you were not in line, you get no ticket. One pass=ONE ticket per person only.

PostSubject: Re: LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS   LINE JUMPING (CUTTING) DURING MOVIE SCREENINGS I_icon_minitimeFri Mar 18, 2011 3:47 pm

As one of the "incompetent, inept, and/or sadistic people who run the screenings, I wanted to address a few things.
First, all of us "inept" people who run the screenings are very much aware of the line jumping problem, and while I am sure most of you think we ignore it, we don't. We know it is frustrating and do try and stop it when we are made aware of it, but we can't be outside monitoring the line at the same time we are trying to get everyone into the theater. But if you have someone notify us, we can take the time out to investigate the problem and fix it. So if you see it happen, tell us. We can't fix it if we are not aware of it. However, as frustrated as you might get over it, calling the Fire Marshall about it will most likely only result in screenings being canceled all together, and I don't think any one wants that.
I for one do not have any problems telling someone who just walked up and jumped ahead of people in line to go to the back of the line.

Second. None of us who run the screenings enjoy having anyone stand in line for 3 hours in the elements. The decision as to when passes are released to the public is made by the studios, not the field reps. And we also cannot let you into the theaters before certain times, because, guess what? The theaters run movies in their theaters all day. They don't just hold the theater that we are going to be using open all day just for us. And at the end of the day, YOU chose to come to the theater 3 hours early, because YOU want to get a good seat, and make sure you get in to see the FREE movie, no one forces you to do so.

Third, the number of passes that are distributed. Again, the number of passes that are distributed for each screening is determined by the studio, well above the field reps pay grade. We have time and time again told the people that we work with at the studio level that they don't have to overbook so much in Sacramento, because the people here love to come to the screenings. But it seems that as soon as they decided they don't need to overbook as much, several screenings don't sell out, which after all is the goal, and they decided to over book again. And the only reason they do over book is to make sure the theater fills up. It is not to piss people off, even though that happens. And if any of you think that any of us screeners enjoy having someone yell and scream at us or call us bad names, we don't.

Lastly, the press seats and studio guests. As it has been mentioned in other areas of this forum, all of the preview screenings are for members of the press who review the movies for their particular media outlet. The studio pays the theaters for each and every seat, and instead of letting them sit empty, they invite the public to attend. They DO NOT have to do this. It is courtesy that they give the public. It serves two functions. It makes sure that the seats don't go empty, and they hope that if the public likes their movies, that they will come back and see it again, or tell their families and friends to go see it after it opens.
Yes, very often, some of the press seats go empty thru the entire screening. We don't like it anymore than you do, but we have no choice. The studio directs us to keep the press seats open, so that in case any press members who may not have gotten to the theater before the movie starts still have seats available to them when they arrive. Or others may show up who are not on our press lists, and we have to make sure they have seats as well.
And when some of you see people arrive right before the screenings start, and they walk right in, keep in mind that they are most likely either press members or studio guests. They know that they have reserved seats, so they don't have to arrive early to get them. That is why very often you may see that happen, even after we have filled the theater to capacity.

In closing, just let me say, regardless what some may think, none of us who run the screenings are mean, uncaring people. We do try our best to get all of you into screenings. We do understand that you drive out to the theaters to see the screenings using your very expensive gas to get there, and spend your valuable time waiting in line. Along with our promotional partners, like Cyclone Movies, we do the best we can to make sure the screenings run smoothly and everyone is happy. Does it always work out that way, no. Any time you deal with the public on the level we do, things go wrong and someone will be upset or unhappy. It sucks, I know. But no matter what the movies what us to believe, life does not always have a happy ending.

Oh, and Tahoe Joe. If you don't like the way we run the screenings, stay home!
I am sure that there is someone who will be more than glad to take your empty seat and appreciate it.

I know exactly who you are talking about, and you are entirely out of line. I am a very seasoned Cyclone member. She (also a "seasoned Cyclone member") was right behind me and my family, and arrived at the screening WITH HER ENTIRE group at 3:30 (that is more than two hours ahead of time) and was polite the entire time, until people started yelling at her. before the announcement was made about not being able to get back in line, a few of the group members went to get food or move their car (since they had been there since 3:30 and the parking needs to be moved every 2 hours before 6). when the announcement was made she went over to the worker at the front (who said he recognized her from the entire time) and stated her problem, they told her that it would be no problem and to go up to him when her party comes back from moving their cars or getting the food. she proceeded to call the people who were coming BACK to the theater, and tell them they should hurry up. HOWEVER, when the friends (who were there to start off with) came back, people started getting angry. And unlike you, I don't mean to point fingers, but I am beginning to think you are the man who proceeded to yell AT HER saying they were going to call the fire marshal. I do believe she did say "I DON'T CARE" but it was only after someone insisted on creating a problem with her. she did get defensive, because her entire group had been there the whole time. AND SHE DID NOT TRY TO HIT ANYONE, so I do not know where that came from, she was defending herself by yelling back at the man who was yelling at her, but she did not come close to hitting anyone and is definitely NOT a thug. next time you should get your facts straight before you make (almost) completely false statements.

First of all, I am NOT a man. I am the latina that was standing in line close to this thug! There were different seasoned cyclone members that warned that woman to stop letting people cut in line. She is NOT a seasoned cyclone member. She did, in fact, attempted to caused a fight until her friend held her and pulled her back.

Second, if her buddies were standing in line, then WHY was she introducing them to each other as they came in??? She was even introducing her buddies to her parents that cut the line as they came in! No need to move your car constantly, the theater validates your parking.

calcitizen, Let me apologize and say that I am sorry that I referred to you as a man. While I was talking to her in line, she had informed me that she goes to the screenings all the time and was even wearing the shirt and button from the promo departments, which according to me would classify her as a "seasoned cyclone member" to me. She did not try to start a fight at all, I do not know what you are referring to because never once did she throw her fits up, or tell someone she was going to fight them, punch them, or anything of the sort.

and I did not park their cars for them, but they were parked on the street. as far as I know the movie validation only covers a few hours, because I parked in the movie parking lot and still had to pay when I left because of how early we got there; so my guess would be that they were saving money by street parking and not having to pay.

hopefully the next movie premiere will not be as much of a problem, for anyone, because it seems like this one last one has gotten everyone upset and slightly over defensive. if anyone feels as though there are problems with the screening, they aren't forcing you to go. Calcitizen, at least we got in!

((haha, guess i loose the font war, because I do not believe it makes any affect on the reader to make it bold and change the colors))
