I don't like the movie. I'll sign any petition to name February 13, "ANTI-Valentine's Day".

Valentine's Day Empty

First off, let’s call this movie for what it really is, “He’s Just Not That Into You, Part 2”.

Valentine’s Day runs on the same premise of “Not Into You” being that the story revolves around 8 couples (there might be more, but that’s all I can remember) with lives that are somehow intertwine with each other. Another “six degrees of separation” theme where by some supernatural forces of the universe, everybody’s lives are connected. Everything happens within 24-hours of V-Day, the one day out of the entire year where Cupid is running on overtime. It’s a feel-good story of finding true love and the joy felt when struck by Cupid’s arrow.

With an entire assortment of A-list actors & actresses, one would expect this sequel to be better than its predecessor, but somehow it feels a bit more chaotic than the first being that there are now 8 couples’ relationships to tell rather than just 4 couples as in the first movie. With that issue, the movie is actually a compilation of 8 short relationship stories rather than just 4 somewhat-short stories so there's not enough time to develope deeper stories. It felt a bit unsatisfied that there wasn't enough time given to bond with the characters.

Given that everything in the movie revolved within a 24-hours timeframe, it’s guarantee that nobody will suffer the agony of heartbreak for long. I hate to say it, but if you don’t see the characters going through enough pain and suffering, then it’s a bit hard to really feel that they deserve the rewards.....beside the last minute tear-jerker of a surprise of course. So I guess the big flaw of this movie is trying to have too much within a 2-hours constraint.

Bottom line, a good rom-com to laugh at, but too much sex references than compare to “Not Into You”. If not anything, you will laugh at the dual Taylor airheads. This would be a good date night movie for couples, and friends, to catch and experience the joy of V-Day and all the loves that are supposed to blossom from it. A typical romance movie with little pain and suffering all wrapped in happy endings for everybody (minus 2 people) with the last scene fly over a bridge with the moon as a backdrop.

excellent review!!!

I saw it the other night and would say you hit it spot on......except I hadn't seen HJNTITY to offer a comparison. I chalked it up to being entertainment. not to make me think or change my mind about anything.....just to enjoy. I loved the predictable and unpredictable endings to each of the mini-stories.

and with a cast of so many stars, I expected it to be a total dud (like so many have been) and was pleasantly surprised! maybe I liked it because my expectations were so low! lol!

Thats funny because I had a completely opposite view from you. With that much A-list celebs, I thought it would be a great movie. After all, there's a reason why they're on the top A-list and command multi-million dollars movie contract. I guess there's little that they can do if the script isn't as good as them.

If you enjoy this movie, then I would highly recommend you check out HJNTIY as well. Don't forget to come back & tell me what you thought of it later.
