I got to say, this was Clooney's best movie this year. There are good humors in the movie, but when it all comes down to it, this movie is a drama story about one man's commitment to achieving his goal in life while manage to alienate himself from the rest of the world. In the career of "fire-for-hire," Ryan Bingham (Clooney's character) is called upon throught the county when a company needs to downsize and fire its employees but doesn't have the guts to do it themselves. What seems to stir my interest while sitting through this movie was the unusal job Ryan Bingham has and his lifestyle choice to live in a suitecase roaming from airport to airport. He managed to hone that lifestyle down to an art with every action he made is to achieve maximum efficiency.
The movie is a nice change of pace from the many action movies Hollywood releases. I found Ryan's interaction with his family a bit bored since not one of the three siblings gives off any vibe on screen that they care for each other as family care for their own flesh-n-blood. Other than that, Ryan's interaction with his love interest, Alex, and his young apprentice, Natalie, were more entertaining to watch. After all, Ryan's relationship with these two ladies are the main subject of the movie, and the relationship with his family is only a plot-filler to the story.
WOW...what a twist in the story at the end. I total didn't see that coming.
